Qatar National Convention Center

Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) is located in Al Gharrafa district at Al Rayyan City, on Dukhan Highway in Doha, Qatar. The Center, which is affiliated to the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, extends across 50.000 acres within the Foundation’s headquarters. It was officially inaugurated on 4 December, 2011. The Center was the first of its kind that was built in accordance with gold standards of the LEED Green Building Certification granted by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The Center’s headquarters, designed by Arata Isozaki in partnership with Roll & Associates Build-Design Architectural Firm, is built to adapt efficiently with environmentally friendly innovations, such as water conservation and energy-saving equipment; which is nearly 32 percent more effective compared to similar buildings that lack these innovative methods.

The Center is equipped with 3.500 square meters of solar panels providing 12.5 percent of the facility’s energy needs. Exhibition halls are equipped with energy-saving lighting. Several other integral design elements have been incorporated into the building to achieve the highest level of environmental and sustainable standards. The Qatar National Convention Center includes a 4.000-seat conference hall, a 2.300-seat theater, three lecture halls and a total of 52 flexible meeting spaces to accommodate a wide range of events. It also has 40.000 square meters of exhibition space divided into nine halls and adaptable for 10.000 seats to lodge a conference or banquet. Several musical events have been held in the Center, including performances by The Script, Ed Sheeran and One Republic.

In 2013, the Qatar National Convention Center won the Best Events Venue Prize at the Middle East Event Awards. The Center also received the Middle East’s Leading Exhibition & Convention Center Award from World Travel Awards, Best Congress and Convention Center in the Middle East Award from Business Destination Travel Awards (Vanity Award), and Best Convention Center in Middle East Award by MICE Report Awards in 2012.
